Splice boxes are essential in fibre optic technology. They connect cables, protect splices, and ensure a clear organisation of fibres. These boxes are used wherever fibre optic cables are employed for data transmission, serving as the central connection point for the cables.
The “FIMP-M-2” splice box has dimensions of 60 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm. Its housing is composed of two components: the base part is securely mounted onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and the insert part is then easily slid into the base and firmly fixed with a captive screw.
All components required for splicing, such as strain relief, cable entry, splice cassette, and couplings, are attached to the insert part. This design streamlines the process: the technician can detach the insert part, introduce up to two trunk cables, splice the fibres, and secure them in the splice cassette.
The insert part is then slid back into a mounting position within the base part using a drawer-like mechanism. This allows the technician to re-check all fibres before completing the assembly of the splice box. The “FIMP-M-2” is easy to install, as the splice box remains fixed to the DIN rail throughout the process.
Eks Engel offers the “FIMP-M-2” with various coupling options, including SMA, ST, SC, LC, FC-PC, SC-RJ, and E-2000.
